Mt. Horeb is a community that has experienced significant residential growth over the past 30 years, yet has managed to retain it's identity as a quaint, friendly small town. Located in southwestern Dane County amidst fertile farmland and picturesque landscapes, Mt. Horeb has long been supported by agriculture and agriculture-related industries. In addition, its proximity to such area attractions as Little Norway, Cave of the Mounds, Blue Mound State Park, and Tyrol Basin has also benefited the community economically.

First and foremost of the attributes are its residents, long known for their friendly, open and caring nature. For example, the volunteer energy of members of service clubs and other organizations have helped to build and finance many of the facilities in the village parks. In addition, Mt. Horeb area residents have made a commitment to preserving the community's historical structures. Much of the village's downtown was built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and whenever possible, owners have preserved the original decor of these buildings.
Another positive attributed of the Mt. Horeb area is its physical beauty. The hills, valleys, woodlands, and farmlands of the area are picturesque in every season of the year. Most of the village itself sits atop these hills, with many homes having magnificent views of the area. Just north of the villages a peaceful valley that is home to Stewart county Park, which includes a seven acre lake.
