Allen, TexasReal EstateAllen, Texas is a dynamic and fast growing community close to the conveniences of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex but also the relaxation of the country. It is located in Collin County just north of Plano and 24 miles north of Dallas right off U.S. Highway 75. Collin County was the 11th fastest growing county in the nation between 1990 and 2000. Allen's population more than doubled during that time. The town is presently attracting a young to middle-age work force mainly in the computer and communication fields. Most residents commute to work in Plano, Richardson and North Dallas. The town of Allen, Texas was incorporated in 1953. The area's first settlers were the Caddo and Comanche Indian tribes, and European immigrants began arriving in the early 1840's. After the rise and fall of the railroad through the town, the population dropped until the construction of US 75 in 1960. This impacted Allen's future as corporate start-ups and relocations came in the 1980's and 1990's. Today, Allen is a family-oriented community with an excellent school system and lovely planned sub-divisions with swimming pools, tennis courts and golf course views.
