TRANSPORTATION
Millington is located in the north west part of Shelby County. The city is approximately 17 miles from downtown Memphis. Millington is served by U.S. Highway 51, a major north/south highway. Paul W. Barrett Parkway is a new road system that connects Millington with Interstate 40, 15 miles east of the city. Millington also has convenient access to Interstates 40, 55, and 240 in Memphis (approximately 15 miles south of Millington). Millington is also served by the Canadian National/Illinois Central Railroad and Greyhound Bus Lines. Airports include the Millington Regional Jetport, Charles W. Baker Airport (a general aviation airport) and Memphis International Airport which is only 30 minutes away.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Millington is making major investments to assure the continuation of the industrial growth of the city. The Millington Industrial Development Board has completed water and sewer extensions and has road construction underway from the new rail-served West Tennessee Regional Business Center, created from the 1300 acres of land declared surplus by the Department of Defense due to the downsizing of the military. This industrial park is adjacent to the 550-acre Millington Municipal Airport (which has an 8000 ft. runway.) This new center for industry complements the existing Millington Business Center, where Ingram-Micro is now operating one of the largest computer distribution centers in the United States. The Millington Industrial Development Board is located in the West Tennessee Regional Business Center on Veteran's Parkway. The Department of Economic Development and Planning works to facilitate quality residential and commercial growth for the City.
