Burleson is an ideal community in which to raise children and begin or expand a business. Warmhearted Burleson was founded in 1881, and was originally a watering stop for the KATY railroad. The city offers the charm of a rural setting and services of a suburban environment. Education is a priority as evidenced by high standards existing from the elementary through college level. This growing community has a population of approximately 23,754 people. The Burleson Independent School District has a new high school built in 1997, 1 junior high school and five elementary schools. BISD was honored by the Texas Education Agency as one of only seven districts in the state with an enrollment of 6,000 or more named a "Recognized District" for its accomplishments during the 1995-96 school year. The award was based on TAAS scores, dropout rates and the percentage of time students attended classes. There are also several private and parochial schools. A good reflection of the community's attitude is the fact that within the last three years, the city has either completed construction or begun constructing new facilities to house the library, the police department and the offices of the city government. If you are a golfer you'll find Burleson's city owned 18 hole course, Hidden Creek a real golfer's paradise. Hidden Creek is a Risk/Reward course. It lets you think your way through the fairways. Just minutes away to the west is Mountain Valley Golf Course. A third course is to be built to the east in the near future. Located within a short driving distance of Fort Worth are its highly recognized art museums and Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. Between Dallas and Fort Worth, Arlington plays host to the popular Six Flags Over Texas, The Texas Rangers professional baseball team and The Hurricane Harbor Water Park.
