Located in Williamson County Thompson's Station, TennesseeThompson's Station is located 7 miles south of Franklin, adjacent to Spring Hill. Incorporated in 1990 with a population of 791. A special census of Thompson's Station was completed in 1995 with a total population of 971. The area later to become Thompson's Station was beginning to be settled as early as 1799 by pioneers, mostly from Virginia, and North Carolina. The pioneers had received land grants for service in the Revolutionary War. Some of the first families into the area were the James Bufords, Chapman Whites, Francis Giddens, and Hardy Murfrees. In 1989, Spring Hill was chosen as the site of General Motors' new plant which would design and produce the Saturn automobile. Being so near Thompson's Station, it has brought an explosion of residential developments to the area. In 1990 the town was incorporated to stop encroaching annexation from Spring Hill.
