Ramona, California

Population: 35,000
Located in San Diego County

"San Diego County's Gateway to the Back Country!"

One of the last places with open spaces and vacant land, Ramona is the fastest growing unincorporated town in San Diego County, while still maintaining a small town atmosphere.

Nestled in the middle of the Santa Maria Valley, Ramona was founded by the Spaniards who called it Nuevo, meaning "New." The name was changed to Ramona in 1884, after the title of a best-selling book at the time.

Lying inland, Ramona enjoys a more seasonal climate than most of San Diego County. Warmer in the summer (Avg. 90 High, 63 Low.) and cooler in the Winter (Avg. 67 High, 35 Low). Another Ramona advantage is waking up to a blue sky in the mornings; because its far enough from the ocean to escape coastal cloudiness in the mornings and evenings, thus giving Ramona its nickname "Valley Of The Sun".

There are summer recreation programs which include dancing, archery, arts and crafts, and swimming. There is one movie theatre, two golf courses, and seven fishing lakes within a half-hour drive.
