Grafton, Wisconsin The Village of Grafton is located in the heart of Ozaukee County approximately 20 miles north of Milwaukee and has an estimated 2001 population of 10,668. The Village is serviced by Interstate Highway 43, located approximately 1/3 mile to the east, by Wisconsin State Trunk Highway 60, and by County Trunk Highways O and V. Grafton is a community of varied industries, including: fabricated metal and plastic products, machinery, printing and publishing, electric and electronic equipment and miscellaneous manufacturing concerns. The Grafton Police Department consists of 20 full-time sworn officers who provide around the clock police protection. The Village is served by a 88 member volunteer Fire Department which provides fire protection and rescue service. A full service Community Activities Department is available to meet the recreational needs of the community. The Multi-Purpose Senior Center provides educational and recreational opportunities for Grafton's senior citizens. The Village Public Works Department is responsible for street maintenance, snow removal, park maintenance and overall village maintenance needs. In 1989, the new U.S.S. Liberty Memorial Public Library opened to serve the community, offering many special programs for the residents of Grafton. The Village is served by the Grafton and Cedarburg School districts, offering comprehensive educational programs for student grades K-12. Grafton also has two parochial schools, St. Joseph's Catholic School and St. Paul's Lutheran School, serving elementary level students. Within 25 miles of Grafton, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Marquette University, Concordia University-Wisconsin, Cardinal Stritch University and Milwaukee Area Technical College provide excellent secondary educational opportunities for Grafton's residents and workforce.
