The Temple Independent School District is a "Children First" district dedicated to providing excellence in education for all of its students. Temple public schools were first started on June 13, 1883, and TISD was established in 1961. TISD can be found near the center of Texas. TISD is a 5A School District which includes 16 education sites serving approximately 8800 students. Temple is not shy on things to do. Located near by is Lake Belton and Lake Stillhouse Hollow. Camping, water recreation, nature trails, hike/bike/equestrian trail, picnic facilities, pavilions for large groups, hunting, fishing, an environmental learning center can all be found on both facilities.
