Welcome to the City of Hayden, a community of 13,000 located in scenic Northern Idaho and nestled among the timbered and sloping shores of Hayden Lake.

Once known as "Hayden Village", the City was officially incorporated on June 27, 1955 and began its rich history as an area steeped in Indian folklore, cattle ranching, lumber and farming. Families from as far away as Spokane traveled frequently along the electric Coeur d'Alene and Spokane Railway to recreate in Hayden and enjoy its simple, natural beauty.

Today, Hayden's City Hall with a growing population, the Hayden community boasts a quality of life that allows its citizens to enjoy some of the best outdoor recreation Idaho has to offer coupled with all of the amenities of a larger city. Residents and visitors alike can stroll down the sandy shores of Honeysuckle Beach, a city-owned and operated park or enjoy an afternoon of shopping in the City's downtown business district where locally owned shops and stores give you a sense of the "old Hayden Village". The result is nothing less than the best of both worlds.

The Hayden area is well-known for its pristine beauty that was caused by a massive glacial flood that resulted in the creation of a series of lakes that include Hayden and Coeur d' Alene Lakes. Today, citizens enjoy the fruits of this natural phenomenon through unlimited access to recreational opportunities that include hiking, fishing, hunting and camping throughout the area. Public access to area lakes afford residents and visitors alike with an opportunity to fish or just enjoy an afternoon of floating.

Coupled with an unlimited inventory of natural recreational opportunities, the Hayden area also boasts some of the best man-made recreational features in the Country. The Corkscrew at Silverwood! Silverwood Theme Park, located just twenty-minutes north of the City of Hayden along Highway 95, rivals in comparison to Six Flags and includes an expansive water park. Tripleplay and Raptor Reef Water Park, located in the City of Hayden along Orchard Avenue, is a wonderful arcade and family fun center that promises to delight all ages. Finally, if you're a skier, this is the area to come to! The City of Hayden is centrally located with an hour of three ski resorts that include Mt. Spokane Ski Resort in Spokane, Washington, Schweitzer Ski Resort in Sandpoint, Idaho and Silver Go-Karting it at TriplePlay Mountain Resort in Kellogg, Idaho.
