Welcome to the Town of Brooklyn, located in northeastern Connecticut, the "Quiet Corner" of the state.

Settled in the 1600s and incorporated in 1786, Brooklyn is a quintessential small New England town. Although we are one of the fastest growing communities in Windham County, much of our rural and colonial character has been preserved. Route 169 which runs through historic Brooklyn center is designated a Connecticut State Scenic Road and a National Scenic Byway. A drive on this road reveals the town character with views of orchards, fields, woods and colonial homes.

Brooklyn is fortunate to have several active farms that add immeasurably to the aesthetic beauty and rural landscape. The Agricultural Association still operates our biggest annual event, the Brooklyn Fair which is the oldest continuously operating agricultural fair in the country.

In spite of the rural look of our town, Brooklyn also has a modern day commerce center. Come visit one of the most beautiful regions in the state of Connecticut. When traveling through Brooklyn allow yourself enough time to experience the beauty of this early New England town. There are historic homes, a wonderful variety of shops and restaurants spread throughout our warm and friendly community. For truly spectacular scenic vista there are numerous walking trails and the historic town green. Maple syrup and maple products are made here in Brooklyn Connecticut at Mik Rans Sugar House.

Spend an afternoon strolling one of Brooklyn's peaceful country lanes, visiting local landmarks or attending seasonal events. Better yet treat yourself to an entire weekend discovering what the locals have known for years. In doing so you will have found a hidden gem that you can know add to your travel log of most memorable destinations.

Whether you are a business traveler needing to take a break from the fast pace of life, a family on a new journey or a couple looking for that special romantic destination, remember our special town.

The Brooklyn School system provides a kindergarten through grade eight program. The goal of The Brooklyn School system is to prepare students to become productive members of our society. In order to realize this end, our educational organization must endeavor to treat each of our students as unique individual. There must be a varied curriculum which not only allows every student to master the basic skills necessary for his/her future success but also encourages the student to pursue particular areas of interest as well as to refine individual talents.
