Just 15 minutes to the south and southwest lies the Boston Mountain range of the Ozark Mountain Region. Only an hour and a half to the south of Harrison is the Ozark Folk Center at Mountain View and the Jewel of the U.S. Forest Service, Blanchard Springs Caverns. The Folk Center features seasoned craftspeople demonstrating Arkansas pioneer skills. The caverns may be toured.

Several scenic drives wind through the Boston Mountains, including one on Arkansas Highway 7, which is designated as one of the 10 most scenic drives in the United States, and is Arkansas' first National Scenic Byway. Canoeing, fishing, and other water activities abound at the Buffalo National River, 15 minutes south for canoeing and fishing; the White River, 50 minutes east for trout fishing; Bull Shoals Lake, 25 minutes north; Table Rock Lake, 25 minutes north, both for water-skiing and fishing.
