Baldwin Township is a small town with a big history, and even bigger plans for the future! Currently, Baldwin Township claims six miles of road, and is one square mile in circumference. Because of its diminutive size, township officials are more in touch with the needs of their residents. Its size also gives residents a great sense of communities. Social clubs and organizations play an active role in this community. The 1950's seemed to be the beginning point for many of the community's traditions. Every spring since 1954, township residents join together to clean up and beautify the community. This activity switched its focus to Armstrong Park after its opening in 1964. The community also sponsors holiday activities for resident children. Baldwin Township sponsors many Christmas activities as well. Making his first appearance in 1965, riding around the township in a police wagon, Santa Claus now tours the community in a fire truck. He also eats breakfast with community children each year. Baldwin Township's current population is 2,477. There are 898 homes in the community. Baldwin Township also contains a thriving business district consisting of eighty-three establishments. The French and Indian War, Pontiac's Rebellion and Whiskey Rebellion all took place in the township's immediate area. The area was destined to grow and develop because of the rich agricultural land and coal seams it contained as well as its proximity to the three rivers. Baldwin Township is a well run community that is able to accommodate its residents' needs. It is a very close-knit neighborhood with a variety of social clubs and organizations to keep all of its residents involved. Baldwin Township, Baldwin Borough and Whitehall Borough are in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District, which is known in the area as being a very organized and successful district. For proximity to major areas, for a close-knit feeling and for beauty, Baldwin Township just can't be beat! Come and enjoy the feeling of a small town here right in the heart of Pennsylvania.
