Pickerington is Violet Capital of Ohio! With an annual festival held every summer, this city located just south of Columbus is the perfect place to live and to raise a family! Today this community is now a thriving city of approximately 11,259 people.
Although the City only officially became the "Violet Capital of Ohio" in 1995, residents as far back as the first settlers in 1808 have enjoyed the beauty and abundance of the wild violets that grow everywhere in the area.

Turnberry Golf Course, bordering Blacklick Creek, this Arthur Hills-designed links-style championship course makes every second shot to the small, elevated greens a test of skill. High fescue grasses, several lakes and numerous bunkers outline the all-bentgrass tees, fairways, and greens.
The meadows, woodlots and still waters of Sycamore State Park offer an oasis of natural features in the midst of expansive farmland. Sycamore provides the perfect setting for picnicking, hiking, fishing and horseback riding.
Group Camp "A" contains several basic sleeping shelters, restrooms, grills and a large barn with electric. This area is completely accessible by wheelchair. Group Camp "B" contains a cabin and an open shelter with electric service, restroom, fire ring, and picnic tables. Both sites "A" and "B" have large areas for tent camping. A 15-site horseman's camp that offers primitive camping with latrines, water, and tie-ups. This area is on a first-come, first-served basis with self-registration required.
Anglers will enjoy good catches of largemouth bass, bluegill and catfish in the park's ponds. Wolf Creek offers excellent stream fishing for smallmouth bass. Hunting is permitted on nearly 1,500 acres of park land with outstanding squirrel and deer hunting opportunities. A valid Ohio fishing and/or hunting license is required.
The park's scenic ponds offer opportunities for hand-power boating only. Canoes and rowboats are suitable for the park's quiet waters. The Overlook Picnic Area boasts a grand picnic shelter with doors and two large fireplaces making it available for year-round use.
The 3-mile Ghost Hedge Nature Trail offers the hiker an opportunity to explore the Wolf Creek Valley. Giant sycamore trees form a picturesque canopy over the trail. The 1.5-mile Beech Ridge Trail explores the surrounding woodlots and meadows. An additional trail connects these two trails to create 8 miles of hiking opportunities. Horsemen can enjoy 15 miles of bridle trail, including the snowmobile routes when not snow covered. The trails pass through scenic meadows and woodlots.
