Huron's waterfront location on the south shore of Lake Erie at the mouth of the Huron River makes it an area rich in natural beauty and history. The lake and river have contributed much to the history and growth of Huron. Water related industries such as fishing, shipbuilding and ice harvesting were prominent during Huron's growing years. The addition of rail service allowed Huron to continue as one of the fresh water ports of the Great Lakes.

Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is approximately a 1.5 hour car ride away, and Toledo's Museum of Art can be reached by car in approximately 1 hour. If you like roller coasters, Cedar Point Amusement Park is located approximately 20 miles away in Sandusky and will provide many hours of entertainment for young and old alike.
