The city of Fairborn was birthed when two cities, Osborn and Fairfield merged in 1950. Today Fairborn is a city of 32,000 people, just minutes from Dayton. Fairborn actually enjoys a unique place in early American history, as the Wright brothers were known to perform some early testing of aircrafts in Huffman Prairie. Fairborn was the original home to the United States Air Force Museum, now currently located in Dayton. When coming to visit the Fairborn area, a visit to the United State Air Force Museum is a must! Boasting galleries filled with aircrafts from the days of the Wright Brothers all the way to modern day spacecraft, the museum is truly a display of technology at its greatest.
