Lake Park is a new town begun in 1990. Lake Park's developers planned a complete village that would provide a town center with shops, a school, a church, a community center and a variety of home styles, sizes, and price ranges. Social activities promote acquaintances and friendships and there are many places for residents to gather connected by pathways throughout the village.

The focal point of Lake Park is its town center which includes a clock tower plaza and the community center overlooking the village green. The first retail and office building has been built and occupied. Old style row houses and town houses of various price levels line the streets while a church and private school anchor the other ends of the town center.

As the community spreads outward from the town center, the housing styles become less dense and more suburban in nature. Housing of various sizes and prices are mixed throughout the neighborhoods. Several areas are devoted to "reduced maintenance" homes designed to appeal to older residents and a nursing home is available within the town.

The social aspect of town life is as important to Lake Park's vision as the physical plan. The town has several festivals throughout the year including a March Kite Festival, Founders Day and an annual fall festival. The community center offers swimming, tennis and summer sports and fine arts classes. Social groups include a seniors group and a teen club.
