The Village of Maybrook is one of three villages in the Town of Montgomery in Orange County, N.Y. It is located approximately 13 miles from the city of Middletown and 8 miles from the city of Newburgh. The village can be reached off Exit 5 of Interstate Route 84, two miles south of the exit. Proceed south on Route 208 to the Village of Maybrook. Route 208 is called Homestead Avenue within the village limits.

The Village Hall is located on 109 Main Street. Turn left at the blinker light at the corner of Main Street and Homestead Avenue. The George Bullis Memorial Library is at the corner of Main Street and Homestead Avenue. Part of Maybrook is built on a tract of land known as the McKnight Patent and King George III of England supposedly deeded it.

While the railroad industry and its long history in the Village of Maybrook has faded, in its place is one of the most successful freight hauling companies in the nation – Yellow Freight System. The company was founded in 1924 as a carrier serving parts of Oklahoma and Kansas in the earliest days. Yellow became a transcontinental carrier in the 1970s and today is a recognized leader in the transportation services industry, employing 32,000 people worldwide. The corporation’s largest subsidiary, Yellow Freight System, is one of America’s premier brands in the marketplace for business-to-business transportation services, offering a complete portfolio of transportation services throughout North American and worldwide.
