Ardsley is located inland from the Hudson River and is surrounded by the lush greenery of its spacious parks. This small village has a family oriented community and a variety of recreation and sports programs for residents. The two major parks include Ashford Park and McDowell Park. Ashford Park offers the community lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, a soccer field, a playground, a softball field and a picnic area. McDowell Park has softball diamonds, a picnic area, and an ice skating area in the winter. Additional activities can be found at the community center. The center provides youth activities as well as senior citizen programs and a selection of classes. Weekly Senior Citizens meetings occur and often special trips are planned for Seniors to see theater or other attractions. A Senior Bus provides transportation to shopping on a regular basis and takes Seniors to the Embassy Club in Dobbs Ferry for lunch, Monday through Friday. The Recreation Commission also sponsors a Halloween parade and a holiday tree lighting ceremony. Ardsley is a sought after area because of its comfortable lifestyle and convenient location to New York City.
