The Borough of Mount Arlington lies along the eastern bank of Lake Hopatcong. Access by railroad shaped Mount Arlington's destiny as a resort community during the second half of the 19th Century. The borough was established in 1890 when it separated from Roxbury Township. Morris County's Lee's Marina and the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club are popular boating facilities on the lake.
