The City of Camden is the county seat of Camden County, New Jersey in the United States. It is located just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As of the United States 2000 Census, the city had a total population of 79,904. The Camden Delaware River Waterfront contains many attractions. The USS New Jersey is preserved as a museum on the waterfront. The waterfront also contains Adventure Aquarium, the Tweeter Center entertainment complex, and Campbell's Field which hosts the Camden Riversharks minor league baseball team.

Today the Walt Whitman House, a National Historic Landmark, provides an intimate glimpse into the life of the poet, attracting visitors from around the world. Whitman's original letters, personal belongings, the bed in which he died, and the death notice that was nailed to the front door have all been preserved, as well as a collection of rare nineteenth-century photographs, including the earliest known image of Whitman - an 1848 daguerreotype.
