Barrington borders Bellmawr, Haddon Heights, Haddonfield, Lawnside, Magnolia, Runnemede, and Tavistock. The Barrington Public Schools serve students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Students attend Avon Elementary until the third grade, where they transfer to Woodland School for grades 4 through 8.

For grades 9-12, students attend Haddon Heights High School, which serves Haddon Heights, and students from the neighboring communities of Barrington and Lawnside who attend the high school as part of sending/receiving relationships with the Haddon Heights School District.

Barrington continues to live up to its motto "Progressive Barrington." Further housing, commercial, industrial and civic development continued to evolve. In 1981, the Barrington Commons business and office complex opened on White Horse Pike, where Interstate Highway 295 intersects.
