Barrington, New HampshireThe Town of Barrington was incorporated in 1722. The area that represents Barrington is the result of two land grants. In 1820 the Town was divided in half and the northwest half became Strafford. Barrington is approximately 48 square miles. The Town became settled in the 1740's when 50 people were willing to give it a try. The population today in Barrington has reached over 7500 and is listed as one of the fastest growing communities in New Hampshire. Barrington is uniquely situated within a short distance from the Maine and New Hampshire seacoasts, Lake Winnepesaukee and the White Mountains, minutes away from the University of New Hampshire main campus. Barrington is an easy commute to Concord, Manchester, Portsmouth, and northern Massachusetts. The Pease International Tradeport is 20 minutes away, and trains to Boston and Portland are as close as 10 minutes away in Durham or Dover. Yet, despite its connection to the wider world, Barrington still remains essentially a rural community - a place of natural beauty and neighborly spirit. Barrington offers the ideal environment in which to locate a business. In its woods, fields, lakes, and ponds, and along its rivers, Barrington offers hiking and fishing, camping, hunting, cross country skiing and golf, among other seasonal sports. There are baseball, soccer, basketball and volleyball teams for adults and children. This is still largely a rural area, and is a haven for visitors with an abundance of bed and breakfast establishments. That does not mean, however that there are no houses to buy or even rent here. New construction is being built, and the trend is to follow what has gone before it - large tracts of land with the house hidden from view. There are town homes available, or if you would prefer to have a luxurious, home you can be accommodated as well. Expect to spend anywhere from $40,000 to $800,000 depending on personal preference, style, and taste. Dedicated to providing the community with a positive learning environment, the Barrington School System teaches academic skills and life skills, as well as practical opportunities for students to use and integrate these skills into their lives. If you are looking for a slower pace of life, then look no further than Barrington, here in the heart of New Hampshire. It won't be long before you are greeted by name as you saunter down the street, and it isn't hard to have an affable conversation in this part of the country!
