The Gingerbread House is a residential center for severely handicapped children. Rolla also has the Kyle Center, a semi-independent residential apartment setting which prepares people with developmental disabilities to move to more independent living arrangements.

Rolla is also the home of several colleges and a technical school. The University of Missouri-Rolla is a premier school which focuses on educating tomorrow's leaders in engineering and science. Rolla Technical Institute is one of the most modern technical schools in the Midwest which provides an extensive and comprehensive technical vocational training program to students Webster University
from twelve area high schools as well as evening instruction and
customized training for over 900 workers. Some other area colleges are Columbia College, Drury University, East Central, and Webster University.

Rivers, forested hills and bubbling springs - they're all part of the natural appeal of south-central Missouri's Ozark Heritage Region.
