The city of Clovis encompasses an eighteen square-mile area located in the northeastern corner of the Fresno-Clovis Metropolitan Area. Largely a suburban region through the 1960s, Clovis has grown to nearly 70,000 residents and boasts a growing independent economic base consisting of retail sales and light manufacturing. This growing city is known for its adherence to "traditional values" and its continuous striving for excellence.

Positioned in the heart of the central San Joaquin Valley, Clovis is near employment centers in the city of Fresno and the Fresno Yosemite International air transportation center. When it's time for a break, Clovis has easy access to mountain recreation areas, and is only two and one-half hours from the coast by car.

The availability of reasonably priced housing, many large and small churches, a nationally renowned public school system, a mild climate, a famous high-performance police department, low crime, and easy access to varied recreational opportunities all contribute to Clovis' reputation as providing an unbeatable "way of life."

Old Town Clovis is the antique capital of California. Thousands of people visit this area monthly to tour the numerous antique stores. It also has many outstanding and award-winning restaurants. The Farmers market on Friday night in Old Town Clovis is a fun time for the entire family. It includes music, dancing, entertainment, fresh farm products, and vendor-prepared foods. It is a Clovis community social tradition. The Clovis Rodeo, a national championship rodeo which has drawn international competitors for over ninety years, is one of the major annual events for Clovis.

For recreation, Clovis Schools have many sports for young people, beginning in the fourth grade, and numerous club sports are available. Clovis Wild Water is a water-theme park with the largest man-made surfing area in the world. Surfers come from the coastal areas to enjoy the "consistently good surf." Millerton Lake, Pine Flat Lake, and thirty other lakes are within twenty minutes to three hours driving time. These are all major recreational areas. Snow Skiing is ninety minutes from Clovis at world-famous Sierra Summit, with a multiple cross country, downhill and ski lift system. The Kings Rivers, just east of Clovis, has beaches, fishing, world-famous white water rafting, and numerous other recreational activities. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are approximately one hour from Clovis, with some of the greatest scenery and the largest trees in the world. Yosemite National Park is eighty minutes north of Clovis. The "Blossom Trail" surrounds Clovis, with the largest area of the most colorful and spectacular tree-fruit blooms in the world.
