If you want to relax and have fun there's plenty to do in the City of Prichard. Chickasabogue Park, located in the northeast section of the city near Whistler, is one of the areas best kept secrets. The park is open year round, seven days a week during regular business hours. It offers visitors an assortment of activities ranging from hiking, camping, disc golf, mountain biking, swimming and fishing. The park is also equipped with a gigantic baseball field, a lake, huge oak trees, and a pavilion. Annual events include the City of Prichard Memorial Day Festival, Prichard Mounted Patrol Fun Day Festival, Chickasabogue Mountain Bike Race, the Deep South Dulcimer Festival, disc golf tournaments and many other activities.

For the early morning joggers and walkers, the city's municipal stadium located on Harold Clark Drive is open 5 days per week from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. The stadium, which seats 10,000, is also the site of many activities. Prichard stadium is the home of two of Alabama's perennial high school football winning teams, Vigor and Blount High schools.

There are eight Elementary Schools, two High Schools, two Parochial Schools and one University located in Prichard. The elementary, secondary and vocational schools are governed by the Mobile County Public School System; the largest school system in the state. Parochial schools are independently governed. The University of Mobile, located in the Eight Mile area, is one of three major universities in Mobile County.
