Transportation includes a railroad, Highway 59 and other major highway links to popular towns and scenery, such as Lookout Mountain, DeSoto State Park, and the Little River Canyon National Preserve.

Fort Payne is the home of the musical group Alabama. The group sponsors annual fund-raisers for charities and service organizations. This community also features a 26-acre sports complex that has lighted fields for soccer, baseball, softball, and football. In addition, Cloudmount Ski & Golf Resort offers year round skiing and is only 12 miles north of Fort Payne. The city is situated beautifully between Sand Mountain and Lookout Mountain and is a wonderful place to call home.
